The meeting opened at 1100 with a welcome by Doug and he thanked everyone for attending. He also wished to thank Mijas LBC for their hospitality for the successful Challenge Cup final held on Saturday 23 November.
Previous Minutes. All the delegates confirmed their acceptance of the previous minutes that were published.
Matters Arising. There was a small correction regarding the rearranged match was between Lauro and Saydo, not La Posada as published.

Food and Drink. Carol from Miraflores raised this agenda point and went on to explain that at a recent competition held at Miraflores, players brought their own food to the club and consumed it sitting on the club premises. Carol explained that Miraflores bowling club is operated under a privately owned bar which provides catering facilities to bowlers, and it is disrespectful to the owners for players to bring their own food. When some individuals were informed of this arrangement, their behaviour toward the staff was not polite.
A discussion then followed led by the delegado stating that as this was an ‘open’ competition, the federation cannot get involved but welcomed all the other clubs present, for their views on federated events and the league.
It was decided that ‘call notices’ from clubs should contain a suitable paragraph explaining the catering facilities provided by clubs. John will issue an amendment to the federation event call notices already issued.
The ‘conditions of play’ should also contain a polite statement regarding catering and drink facilities on offer at individual clubs. The sale of water to visitors was discussed and the majority of clubs present agreed that water should be purchased at the club and not be brought by players unless they were willing to pay ‘corkage’.
Financial Update. Sheila handed out a detailed account of the account to date and each member present took the chance to peruse the document with Sheila explaining certain entries. There were no questions for Sheila.
Sheila added that clubs should remember that each new member after paying the membership fee, must be federated.
Sheila concluded that any competition fees collected in 2025 should be paid direct to Jaen and she would produce an easy-to-use proforma that all clubs could use. This would commence in March 2025 unless a different direction was directed by Jaen.
Calendar 2025. John reminded the meeting that there were still dates to be confirmed for the calendar, particularly the Spain match and the inter-provincial match against Almeria. Doug briefed the meeting that there were still no dates confirmed but a lot of work was going on in the background to bring this matter to a conclusion. Carol reiterated the negative impact the proposed date by Almeria has on Miraflores.

Paul (Team Manager, Malaga) added that trying to reach an amicable agreement with individuals within the Spanish and Almeria team management has and still proves to be very difficult. As the time of year, and venue was still to be decided, and it won’t be in Malaga’s favour, are we at the time to consider cancelling these matches, for next year only.
All the clubs stated that Paul as team manager, has the full support of every club in whatever decision he makes.
The delegado agreed adding that a decision would be made within 7 days and the decision will be passed on by the secretary, to all clubs.
Markers and Umpires Course. Bill confirmed with all the clubs that they had received the information sent out by Ron, training officer, regarding the upcoming markers and umpire course in December. If any club had players wishing to join the course, they will inform Ron asp.
John added that Mijas was also running a markers course soon and any club were welcome to send players. The dates will be published shortly.
Trophies. Bill thanked the clubs for bringing the federation trophies to Mijas. Benavista also produced a few trophies that may well be added to the pool for re-use. Bill explained that he would now talk with Ron and together would produce an up-to-date list of trophies held and that clubs could take their trophies back at the next meeting.
La Cala Bowling Club. Jeff asked if there was any further information available on La Cala Bowling Club. Doug replied that La Cala had received their ‘sport licence’ and were now starting the procedure to register with the federation. Unfortunately, La Cala had experienced a problem with personnel in key positions and until this area was addressed and resolved, the application will not go any further.
Flags. John produced recently purchased flags and explained that each club would receive a flag with its own crest and logo, together with their achievements throughout the year. The flag would be provided each year and all the clubs thought this would be ideal. Jaen will now be approached to try and secure funding for this venture, but clubs agreed to buy the flags if necessary.
Score Cards. John wished to thank all clubs for their swift submission of score cards and their accuracy in detail.
Media. Jane informed the meeting that she is trying to get the details and pictures of the recent Malaga Challenge Cup final in the local newspapers.
Vice President. Doug took this opportunity to provide an update on Bixio and his ongoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. Bixio remains strong and is receiving treatment.
3
Yearly Celebration. Doug asked the clubs to consider a thought of once a year, getting together, players and their partners, at a central venue to have a meal and celebrate achievements made by the clubs. Club delegates will bring their views to the next meeting.
Date of Next Meeting. This was decided as 22 January 2025 commencing at 1100 at Mijas bowls club. Carol offered her apologies. The Delgado thanked Jean (Mijas) for the buffet she provided.
